      COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT
Supported Community Enclave and Mobile Work Crew Services

The supported community employment division of Greene, Inc. exists to provide employment opportunities for program participants outside the traditional workshop setting. A variety of community employment options are available. Program participants who are seeking community employment but may not have yet mastered all of the skills necessary to maintain employment in a competitive environment may be appropriate for placement in this division. Supported Community Employment consists of enclaves or work crews made up of a Greene Co. Board of MR/DD staff supervisor and three to six consumer/workers. Employment opportunities in this division may be in the following areas: Hotel Housekeeping, Commercial Janitorial (First & Second Shift), Grounds Maintenance, Floor Maintenance and Litter Control.

Hotel Housekeeping

Consumers working in Hotel Housekeeping may be working in one of two Hotel crews. Each crew is made up of a Greene, Inc. staff supervisor and 6 consumers. Hours of work are Tuesday through Saturday 9am until 3pm. Each crew is responsible for cleaning approximately 15 rooms per day. Skills necessary for this enclave are: ability to work 5 days per week, ability to work 6 hours per day, ability to perform any or all of the following tasks: making beds, operate vacuum cleaner, dusting and cleaning bathroom fixtures (sinks, mirrors, toilets, bathtubs, floors).


Commercial Janitorial Services

Consumers working in Janitorial Services may be working in one of 8 first and second shift crews. Each crew is made up of a Greene, Inc. staff supervisor and 4 - 6 consumers. Hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30am until 2:30pm for first shift and 4pm until 11pm on second shift. Each crew is responsible for cleaning one or more contract locations per day. Skills necessary for this enclave are: ability to work 5 days per week, ability to work 6-7 hours per day, ability to perform any or all of the following tasks: sweeping and mopping floors, operate vacuum cleaner, dusting and cleaning bathroom fixtures (sinks, mirrors, toilets, showers, floors).


Floor Maintenance

Consumers working on the Floor Maintenance Crew will be working second shift. This crew is made up of a Greene, Inc. staff supervisor and 1or 2 consumers. Hours of work are Monday through Friday 4pm until 11pm. Some longer hours may be required due to changing workload each night. This crew is responsible for maintaining tile floors at each of or janitorial contracts. Skills necessary for this enclave are: ability to work 5 days per week, ability to work 6 - 8 hours per day, ability to perform any or all of the following tasks: sweeping and mopping floors, operate floor maintenance equipment such as a buffer, floor scrubber, auto scrubber and wet/dry vacuum cleaner.


Grounds Maintenance

Consumers working in Grounds Maintenance will be working at Wright State University. This crew is made up of two Greene, Inc. staff supervisors and six consumers. Hours of work are Monday through Friday 7am until 3:30pm. Hours may vary seasonally due to weather and campus needs. The crew is responsible for litter control and emptying trash containers on University grounds as well as Nutter Center. Skills necessary for this enclave are: ability to work 5 days per week, ability to work 8 hours per day, ability to perform any or all of the following tasks: pick up paper, bottles, cans etc. using mechanical tongs, empty trash cans and replace liners, sweep concrete areas using a broom and dust pan.
